Scope and requirements
This statement concerns the iBOTS website at ibots-bonn.de, including its German pages. It does not assess separate learning platforms, registration services, or linked websites.
The project uses EN 301 549, including WCAG 2.1 at level AA, as its technical accessibility benchmark. The University of Bonn’s accessibility guidance provides an institutional reference. For websites of covered public bodies, the public-sector framework includes BGG NRW, BITV NRW and Directive (EU) 2016/2102. University affiliation alone does not determine the legal duties applicable to this project website.
Assessment and current status
The website’s accessibility is being improved. A limited self-assessment on 12 October 2026 covered source code, shared navigation, distinct page layouts, all ten legal pages, and mobile legal-page presentation in light and dark modes. Keyboard checks covered the skip link and navigation. This limited assessment does not establish full conformance with EN 301 549 and is not an independent certification. This statement was last updated on 13 October 2026.
On 13 October 2026, automated checks using Pa11y CI and axe were added for rendered website pages in both languages, in light and dark themes at desktop and narrow mobile widths, including open navigation menus. These checks detect a subset of WCAG 2.1 A/AA failures and additional best-practice issues. They do not replace human evaluation of keyboard and screen-reader use, image descriptions, text, or complete user processes.
The local implementation adds a skip link, labelled navigation and theme controls, visible focus, stronger contrast, improved heading structure, responsive legal text, direct email contact, and reduced-motion handling. Local browser checks found working navigation and carousels and no horizontal overflow in the sampled desktop pages or mobile legal pages. These results do not adopt the university’s central Plone assessment.
Barriers and alternatives
Some German pages include untranslated English content. Interactive technology radars provide a companion text catalogue, but their complete screen-reader interaction and visual contrast require assessment. Image descriptions and heading meaning, historical teaching material, and external services need human checks; linked content is not covered by this statement.
Use the catalogue lists instead of relying on the radar graphic. For content that you cannot access, request an explanation or an alternative format from the team. Known limitations and available alternatives are described above; contact the team if you encounter another barrier.
Feedback and assistance
For barriers on this website, contact delgrosso.nick@uni-bonn.de with the affected URL and the information or format you need. For university services and institutional accessibility enquiries, the university publishes an electronic accessibility feedback form and barriere-melden@uni-bonn.de. Its published information explains those channels and their scope.
The university’s feedback form has its own privacy information. Give contact details if you want a reply; avoid unnecessary sensitive information.
Enforcement procedure
For accessibility disputes concerning websites or mobile applications of covered public bodies in NRW, the ombuds office for accessible information technology offers a mediation route. The office’s published information explains eligibility and the application procedure; this route depends on the responsible body and the service concerned.
Ombudsstelle für barrierefreie Informationstechnik NRW
Fürstenwall 25

The university’s published accessibility information describes this route for its services, including the six-week response period. For help with this project website, use the project contact above.
Review and responsibility
Dr. Nicholas A. Del Grosso is the local maintenance contact. The statement is reviewed at least annually and when material technical or content changes occur. The next scheduled editorial review is 12 October 2027.
