We are iBOTS: iBehave Open Technology Support
iBOTS teaches practical research software skills and supports more than 40 neuroscience labs across Bonn, Köln, Aachen, and Jülich in the iBehave network.
Our mission is to enable data collection, processing, and analysis through swift training and knowledge dissemination. We focus on simplifying, automating, and disseminating data analysis pipelines using open-source software and programming environments.
We work as a teaching and learning-support group that links researchers to open-source technologies and free resources. We’re committed to bridging the gap between scientific goals and technical execution by promoting knowledge exchange, collaborative development, and community building. This leads to close relationships with researchers, practical neuroscience technology solutions, and direct availability to scientists at all levels of their academic careers.
Establishing ourselves at the UKB, we hired our team, moved into our office, launched our first hackathon, and taught our first round of "Intro to Python" Courses.
We explored our community's interest by offering our first round of general-tech training workshops on everything from databases and pipelines to microcontrollers and image processing frameworks.
We moved offices to Poppelsdorf to make inter-institutional collaboration easier, joined the Advanced Neural Data Analyais School, expanded our team, and consolidated our core offerings.
We launched our website, networked with RSEs across Germany, and launched a new suite of theory-driven neuroscience courses!
Our Office
Located in Poppelsdorf, Bonn, our office serves as a hub for cross-institutional collaboration within the iBehave network. We're strategically positioned to support labs across Bonn, Köln, Aachen, and Jülich.
