Explore Provisional Teaching

The EBRAINS Collaboratory combines hosted JupyterLab, shared storage, documentation, and team management in workspaces designed for neuroscience. It is worth exploring when a course or project needs a shared cloud environment with direct access to EBRAINS tools and resources.

Provisional positions are editorial proposals awaiting group review.

Common use cases

  • Run and share neuroscience notebooks in a hosted JupyterLab environment
  • Organize project members and resources in collaborative workspaces
  • Store and access files from notebooks
  • Document and share reproducible analysis workflows

Getting started

The EBRAINS Collaboratory is a cloud environment for working on neuroscience projects in teams. Its workspaces, called collabs, bring together interactive computing, shared files, project documentation, and communication services.

Why the EBRAINS Collaboratory?

  • Hosted JupyterLab: Run notebooks in EBRAINS Lab with neuroscience tools available in the cloud
  • Shared workspaces: Organize people, resources, and permissions within a collab
  • Integrated storage: Use Drive for smaller versioned files and Bucket for larger datasets
  • Project documentation: Describe methods and share results through the collab Wiki
  • Collaboration services: Work together using shared office documents and team chat

Getting Started

  1. Create an EBRAINS account and sign in to the Collaboratory.
  2. Create or join a collab for your course or research project.
  3. Use the Wiki to document the workspace and guide collaborators to its resources.
  4. Open Lab from the collab to create or run Jupyter notebooks.
  5. Keep smaller, frequently changing files in Drive and larger datasets in Bucket.

Consult the Collaboratory getting-started guide for account, workspace, and service instructions.
